Why romance is a good genre

Many people, men more than women believe that reading romance is a waste of time, an addiction and many more opinions that romance reader couldn't care less about.

I am today here to correct the false assumptions and thoughts that some people have about this beautiful genre.

As we all know, we are humans who live in a society which means interacting with other humans is a daily necessity, whether they are our friends or family or lovers, and communicating with each other is very important as it is the tool used to understand each other’s desires and needs. Some people may think that communication requires only words and sentences pronounced by our vocals chords, but no, communication require a lot more than just that, it requires emotions because we are creatures who mostly function based on those .

Emotions play a really big role in understanding each other and really connecting, and that is where romance come into service. Romance helps grow our understanding of other people. It encourages empathy, it also helps love wise, we can always learn from mistakes the characters make in love and their relationships. Additionally romance novels can be used as a way to increase dopamine as their endings are mostly happy and in this life we have enough sad ending. I personally learned a lot from romance novels. They are not just about the love story or the happy endings or the very handsome tall sexy characters. They are also about how the characters go through a lot of hardships, how they always try their best to fix it. They are about how if you never give up you will eventually get what you want no matter how many time life tries to knock you down.

Finally, we humans will always have different opinions, and that's fine, it's natural, because tastes differ and we are all unique individuals, which is the whole point of existence, but what we need to do more is to respect each other’s choices and tastes. You can choose to be different without shaming or bullying another person for their own personal choices which do not harm you in any way
