Artificial Intelligence as we know it has since its launch accumulated controversial opinions, while some have acknowledged it as this fascinating tool that can make our human life easier, others view it as their ultimate enemy, scaring them of what the future holds for them and their professional lives.
The intersection of art and artificial intelligence (AI) takes center stage as the American Art Center in Casablanca inaugurates the AiAe (Artificial Intelligence Arts Exhibition) on December 9th. Running until the end of the month, this groundbreaking exhibition delves into the evolving landscape of art in the era of artificial intelligence.
This exhibition, which is a blend of innovation and aesthetics, features 18 artists, all harnessing the power of AI, yet each weaving a unique narrative through their art.
When questioned about their techniques, their responses varied, offering a captivating glimpse into the unique ways their minds diverge.
The French Trio, known as “Obvious”, stated that their vision was to use AI algorithms to generate images that are an interpretation of the 7 wonders of the world. Their process involved transforming digital images into living painting using Oil paint, and further integrating augmented reality to weave an enchanting tapestry of layers.
Dutch artist Louise Te Poele takes a different approach allowing her brain and intuition to take complete reign over the experimentation with different of AI generated images before choosing the one she feels are fit to be exhibited.
Moroccan artist and exhibition curator, Mehdi Sefrioui, expressed with enthusiasm, his desire to showcase through his art African self-representation uninfluenced by external biases, offering a fresh lens to African culture.
As for the techniques employed by other artists, Walid Bendra revealed that his art was
born from a text programmed to AI in order to obtain the final images resembling professional photography.. Yassire Ramzi drew inspiration from science fiction movies, while Mouad Aboulhana merged AI with pop culture, citing influences from Japanese anime, including Goldorak.
