-Things every news reporter should know-

As a journalism student, I have done a lot of research about news reporting because it is the field that interests me the most, and I would love to share my knowledge with others who are interested in it.

First of all, news reporters are not just people who announce the news to the audience by merely reading them. News reporters need to know how to correctly deliver the news, and that requires a lot of practice and knowledge. So here are tips about what news reporters should do and what they should know.

  • Be well dressed: no one would pay attention to someone who looks unpleasant to the eye, so making sure that you are well presented is an important key.

  • Be neutral: a journalist should never give privileges to one side over another because that defies the whole purpose of being a broadcaster or journalist.

  • Adopt precision-based analysis

  • Avoid superficiality

  • Avoid the hype

  • Obtain informations from credible resources: a news reporter must always check and double check his resources in order to make sure that he is not spreading false information.

  • Deal intelligently with difficult situations and urgent changes as well as different guests: while news broadcasting, urgent news might arise, a professional news reporter should be able to present them without panicking or showing distress.

  • Be honest: honesty is the primary quality of a good news reporter, he must never lose it

  • Control facial expressions: a news reporter’s feelings or thought must never be shown on his face as they are a sign of his agreement or disagreement with the news, and as long as the news is correct, the news reporter has no right to agree or disagree, as his job is solely to convey them to the people.

  • Have self-confidence: a person that is not confident in themselves can never gain people’s trust, and you as a news reporter must make people trust you, otherwise you have failed your job.

  • Voice control: a professional journalist uses his deep voice and never shows that he is reading from the prompter, additionally he must pronounce words correctly and control his breathing. Practice is always recommended .

Finally, the most important thing is that you should love your job. If what you do is your passion then you will always be the best at it.

I believe that good journalism, good television, can make our world a better place.
