Extracurricular activities....

Opinions about extracurricular activities differ. Some students state that those activities are boring, difficult, and that they feel “obligated” to participate in them because it is often required by universities. Other students actually find these activities fun and think that they are beneficial on a personal and educational level.

The first party elaborate on its statement by saying that as students it is very hard to focus on extracurricular activities while also exceling in school and maintaining straight As, the main reason for that being that the teachers don’t help. Most teachers and professors demand their students’ physical presence in classes in order for them to get good grades, and since some extracurricular activities always take place in the same time as some classes, it is a constant struggle for the students to find balance. Moreover, parental pressure plays a big role in generating hate towards these activities. Most students believe that if they don’t take on as much activities and try to be the best at everything they will disappoint their parents, and that takes a toll on the students mental health.

The second party support their opinion by stating that in order to enjoy school, and the extracurricular activities, students should always create a schedule in advance of the semester that balances school, after-school activities, and home life. Additionally those activities enhance many qualities in the students’ skills such as self-esteem, better public speaking, team work, time management and many more. The students that enjoy the extracurricular activities declared that thinking about them in a positive way makes them more enjoyable, if you see them as something that you are obligated to do then you are bound to hate doing them, but if you think about them as something beneficial and fun then you will find yourself wanting to improve your performance and even participating in more activities.

I personally love extracurricular activities. It’s an undeniable fact that they can be stressful and scary, but that just boosts my interest in exploring them more. The only reason they are scary is that they are unknown, once you immerse yourself in them, fear gets replaced by enjoyment.
