Doping is athletes’ use of prohibited
chemical substances to improve their performance or gain more muscles. This practice has been present for many centuries, but it recently got more attention as there are a lot more performance-enhancing drugs available today.
Many agencies have stepped up for years now to help educate athletes about the dangers of these drugs, and help them stay away from them. Some of these agencies are the world anti-doping agency “WADA”, and the Moroccan anti-doping agency “L’AMAD”.

For their mission to enhance anti-doping in the sports community, L’AMAD held in
partnership with the organization of Moroccan sports journalists, a seminar on the 19th of October 2022, to introduce the agency and present its goals and future projects. Guest speakers from different countries were present in the seminar, which made it more informative and beneficial.
The event started with a speech about the world anti-doping program and the role of morocco in this area, which was given by the director of the African regional office of WADA, Mr.Swigelaar Rodney.
The next subject was the importance of education in the fight against doping, which was talked about by Mrs.Gacem Basma, who is the head of education at the Tunisian anti-doping agency.
The spotlight was then given to Pr. Belliman Moulay Ahmed who is the general secretary of L’AMAD, to introduce L’AMAD, its history, and its journey from its creation to excellence.
The seminar also covered the role of the sportive media in the fight against doping which was addressed by Mr. Bouimid Belaid who Is a journalist, researcher, writer, former president of the union of African sports journalists, and much more.
The next guest speaker was Mr. Sadouk Rachid, an advocate General at the Court of Cassation. He spoke about Morocco's commitment to the fight against doping.
Finally, the speeches were closed by a discussion about the rights and responsibilities of athletes, which was given by Mrs.Bertagi Zakia, the former Director General of the Tunisian Anti-Doping Agency, and Mr. Sentissi Mokhtar, a legal advisor.
The seminar ended with a signing session of the partnership agreements, then an official inauguration.
The creation of L’AMAD is one of the biggest steps that Morocco took in order to raise the game for clean sports.
